facet of the Club is the conservationist: habitat conservation, resources,
species, disclosure, research, effective conservation in deserts, arid
and semiarid areas. |
| Agrodesierto
programs have the potential for universal application and utility. Agrodesierto
is specialized in conservation and sustainable development systems: agricultural,
livestock, forestry, and technical. |
| Agrodesierto
is focused on crops and plantations for arid and semi-arid areas, coastal,
saline and also for dry areas of temperate, tropical and subtropical climate. |
| A
major activity is the collection, preservation and conservation of plant
species and varieties with potential interest, or importance. From work
and programs, the Club has compiled some of the most comprehensive worldwide
botanical collections of useful species, clones, crops and varieties. |
| We
highlight the work done with: Arid Zone Legume, Multipurpose and Fruit
Trees and Shrubs, Opuntia (prickly pears) and Nopalitos, other Cactus,
Moringas, Paulownias, Biomass Crops, Oleaginous, Aquatic Plants, Succulents
and Species of Industrial and Pharmacological potential. |
| The
philosophy of the Club is to promote sustainable development on a small
scale without renouncing other goals. Agrodesierto bets on accessible home
economics, to increase capacity, autonomy and independence of individuals,
families and communities within a framework of sustainable and balanced
development. |
| In
the Club we encourage, promote, investigate and apply systems for Agriculture,
Livestock and Forestry integrating different techniques such as Traditional
Agriculture, Organic, Permaculture, Aquaponics, Zooponics and Detriculture.
Advanced techniques are applied, for preservation, processing, identification,
laboratory multiplication, propagation, micropropagation, etc. |
| Other
activities include livestock, zoological, rescue, preservation, informative
and divulgative programs. Several technical programs including promotion
and integration of clean alternative energies. |
| Over
the years there has been more and less, successes and failures, gains and
losses, but always moving forward. We have created a global network of
partners, individuals, organizations and related companies, associated,
integrated and auxiliary. |
| The
ultimate goal is to enable partners to access information, knowledge, materials,
systems, collections and specimens that are otherwise difficult or impossible
to obtain. |
